Day 23. After enjoying a terrific meal followed by a great night’s sleep in Torcross, I felt rejuvenated and ready for another day on the path. My wonderful hosts, David and Janet, who had gone out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible, kindly drove me back to East Prawle, to start my walk where I had finished yesterday.

Here I was welcomed by my great friends from Lilley Brook Golf Club, James, Dougie, Costa, Colin and Jezza. They left Cheltenham at 04:00AM to be with here with me and join me on this segment of the walk. We then set off together, embarking on the 18.5 mile trek to Dartmouth.

We had great laughs throughout the day with a beer and ice creams along the way to keep us going. The walk was scenic and the weather was cool and sunny - perfect conditions for an enjoyable day on the path.

To add some stakes to the day, another friend from the golf club, Kevin, had decided to sponsor the guys joining me for the walk. He pledged £10 for each one that finished, with the promise to double it if everyone successfully completed the day, confident that it would only cost him £20 at most.

Well… I am happy to report that they all made it! We fought through the last few miles to Dartmouth - with the usual mix of determination and exhaustion that accompanies the end of a long day on the path. And while everyone was feeling a bit stiff by the end, and perhaps not wanting to see a hill again for a while, they all managed to push through and finish the walk!

Kevin has just added £100 to the money raised on the JustGiving page. So a huge thank you is owed to all of them for their companionship during the walk and for Kevin’s incredible sponsorship.

As we finally arrived in Dartmouth, we were greeted by yet another picturesque town, nestled along a gorgeous estuary with an array of yachts and boats along the water. Naturally, we took the time to enjoy a drink together before heading off to our respective hotels to freshen up.

Later that evening we met for a meal and they all insisted on treating me, not letting me pay - I didn't pay for anything throughout the day! I am blessed to have such good friends, and as I settled into bed, I reflected on the day’s events and felt deep gratitude.

Tomorrow I'm taking a ferry first thing, then I'm off toward the beautiful town of Torquay.
