Day 20. Wow, where is this month going? I can't believe that it has already been 20 days since I embarked on this journey. I started the day with a phone call to Nicky Price from BBC Radio Gloucestershire, catching her up on my progress with the fundraising and walking. She's so easy to converse with and I really appreciate the interest and support she has shown me during this month! Today, I reached a significant milestone, having passed two-thirds of the total distance - 420 miles. And I have climbed the equivalent of two and a half Everests! I'm proud of myself and my physical and mental endurance.
Every day, I find myself falling into a familiar routine, one that has become essential for my well-being. Each morning and night, I dedicate time to a series of exercises and stretching routines designed to keep my body limber and strong - paying particular attention to my legs, massaging out any tension or soreness. So far, so good; my body is holding up well under the strain of the journey, which is a relief. I usually eat a meal in the early evening and make it a point to go to bed early. This disciplined approach to rest is crucial, as it allows my body to recover and prepare for the day ahead.

Today was a relatively easy day as far as South West Coast Path days go. I only had to contend with a couple thousand feet of elevation gain and 21.5 miles. It was hot but there was a breeze, and I felt good all day.
The highlight of today was meeting and walking a number of miles with Ruth. She is also undertaking the challenge of walking the entire path. She is doing so in memory of her husband, Peter, and to raise money for Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield. It has been nine years since Peter passed away, and Ruth graciously shared her experiences and helped me with some kind words. I truly wish her all the best as she continues her walk, carrying the memory of her husband with her.
As I approached the latter part of today's trek, I found myself walking through the docks and warehouses of Plymouth. The industrial scenery was somewhat uninspiring compared to the breathtaking coastal views I had grown accustomed to but before I knew it I had arrived at my 'bijou' Airbnb for the night, right on the coast path and 100 yards to the pub! Although the space is limited, there is just about enough room for me to do my stretching and nightly routine before collapsing into bed. With my third South West Cost Path map down, with only two to go, I am feeling ready and looking forward to the day ahead tomorrow.
