Day 17.
After enjoying a nice breakfast with Julian, we set off together for the ferry terminal in Falmouth. However, we arrived and realised that there are two ferry terminals in the area and unfortunately we had gone to the wrong one.
This mistake meant that I missed the first ferry of the day, but thankfully, I managed to catch the 09:20. Stepping onto the shores of St Mawes I discovered that I needed to take another ferry to reach Place.
All of this meant it was past 10:00 am by the time I finally began my walk.
The sun was shining and I enjoyed some great scenery, it is already very different from the north coast, the sea is calmer and the scenery is less dramatic. Boating has taken over from surfing as the main water sport.

I encountered several friendly locals and fellow walkers along the way today. Many of them took the time to listen to my story and expressed their support by offering to donate, which of course is a great motivator for me to continue my journey.

It turned out to be a hot day and a hard one. I walked 24 miles and climbed 4000ft. As I progressed, I began to feel the strain in my legs, particularly in my thigh. The final few miles proved to be particularly taxing, especially when navigating the ever tricky downhill sections.

Due to the late start this morning, I didn’t arrive in Gorran Haven until around 6:30 pm. By then, my legs were aching, and I decided it would be best to settle in for the evening to focus on recovery.
I took the time to stretch and care for my weary thigh using the techniques learned from my fab physio Bruce, hoping to alleviate some of the soreness. Keeping everything crossed that I can work through it.
