Day 13. I have so far done a good job selecting my accommodation for this journey as I had yet another comfortable night, spent at The Wellington. I awaken to the sound of rain against the window, so as I prepare for the day I don my full waterproofs, ensuring that I am well-equipped to face the elements. The hotel is situated nearly a mile off the path, so it's a wet trek before I can begin the day's mileage.

Starting from the impressive Cape Cornwall, I make my way towards Lands End. In spite of the weather, I am again captivated by the stunning vistas that unfold before me, revealing secret coves and hidden beaches. Each leg of the path presents its own challenges, and as I navigate through today's tough terrain I am actually almost climbing boulders on the path!

As I reach Lands End I find out from my messages that we have reached the 20k fundraising target. This news fills me with a profound sense of accomplishment and a bittersweet joy. I stop at Lands End and get my photo next to the iconic mileage sign with the words "For The Love of Anna" proudly displayed upon it.

In the nearby pub I have a celebratory beer. A little time passes and I find myself having a cry in a quiet corner, just the enormity of all that has happened. After some reflection, I gather myself and prepare to move on. Although I am not halfway through this trek yet, in terms of days/mileage, leaving Lands End feels like I am turning a significant corner and heading for home.

I pass Porthcurno Beach and The Minack Theatre, and head downhill to Mousehole

As the day draws to a close, after 23 miles, I arrive at the delightful village of Mousehole at approximately 18:15 hours. The Ship Inn is a lovely pub and upon arrival I learn they have upgraded my room! Not only that but Laura and the fundraising team at Sue Ryder have sent me a wonderful handwritten note, congratulating me on our success! I take care of the usual running repairs, tending to my tired feet and preparing for the next leg of my adventure. After enjoying a delicious dinner, I retire to my room, eager for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow's another day.

My upgraded room, view from the window and map 2 of 5 done!
