Today I drove a client who has done Ironman triathlons and is now a coach. He told me I really needed to look at my calorie intake and sugar levels for the walk, 31 days at the mileage and altitude I am undertaking. If I were to get depleted it would be really difficult to get back on an even keel. Whilst walking I need to suck a sweet every hour, eat an energy bar or two, drink lots of water and have a salt tablet every day. My breakfast and dinner must have plenty of carbs and eat a good lunch.

Take blister packs, athlete foot spray as sweaty feet can get fungal and he has recommended a gel for my tender parts to avoid chaffing. I should start eating these things on my training walks to get used to them.

Blimey it has been a real wake up call to me, I am undertaking a challenge that will test my body and mind and I need to be properly prepared.
